Cookie Policy

What cookies LocalAlpha uses, why, and how to control them.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Some are strictly necessary to make the site work (for example, to keep you signed in); others are optional and only used with your consent (for example, analytics). We keep our cookie use minimal.

Cookies we use

Strictly necessary (always on):

  • Authentication session — keeps you signed in after you log in (httpOnly session cookie). Without it, the app can't keep you authenticated.
  • Consent preference — a small cookie (la-consent) that remembers your cookie choices so we don't ask again each visit.

Analytics (only with your consent):

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — helps us understand aggregate, non-identifying usage (pages viewed, general location, device type) so we can improve LocalAlpha. GA4 sets its own cookies (e.g. _ga). These load only after you opt in via the cookie banner, and not at all if you decline.

Cookieless analytics (no cookie, no consent needed):

  • Cloudflare Web Analytics — measures aggregate traffic (page views, referrers) without setting any cookies and without tracking you across sites. Because it uses no cookies and doesn't identify you, it runs by default; there's nothing to opt in or out of.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your choices

When you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential (analytics) cookies. You can change your decision any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer. Declining leaves all strictly-necessary cookies in place (the site still works) and prevents analytics cookies from loading.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings, including deleting existing cookies or blocking new ones. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies may break sign-in.

Changes to this policy

If we add or change cookies — for example, a new analytics or feature cookie — we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above, and update the consent options where required.
